City defeats Sevilla on penalties to win the UEFA Super Cup.
The trio, who were all essential to City’s historic Treble triumph, are on a six-man shortlist that also includes Harry Kane (previously of Tottenham Hotspur), Martin degaard, and Bukayo Saka (all of Arsenal).
In 2022–23, Haaland scored 36 goals in just 35 games, shattering the previous mark for the most goals scored in a single Premier League season. His 44 goal contributions were tied for the most all-time, breaking the mark established in the 2002–03 season by former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.
In his debut season after signing from Borussia Dortmund, he scored an incredible 52 goals across all competitions, igniting English football.
De Bruyne, a midfielder for Belgium, furthered his status as one of the best players in the history of soccer by scoring 10 goals and setting up an incredible 31 others.
De Bruyne, who won consecutive accolades in 2019–20 and 2020–21, would be the first three-time winner if he were to win the honor.
And with his strongest season in a City jersey to date, Stones reinforced his place as one of the most majestic footballers on the planet, frequently playing in a hybrid defense-midfield role and adding a new dimension to City’s tactical system.
On August 29, when the PFA celebrates the 50th anniversary of its awards ceremony, the winner will be declared.
The 92 Premier League and Football League clubs in England cast their votes for the PFA awards.
Erling, Kevin, and John have received congratulations from everyone at City for being named as finalists for the honor.
