Paris Saint-Germain suffered a humiliating 3-2 loss to Nice in their Ligue 1 match, and an upset Kylian Mbappe got into a verbal altercation with Nice’s Terem Moffi.

After drawing two of his previous four league games in charge of PSG, Mbappe scored twice but was unable to save Luis Enrique from suffering his first loss. On a remarkable night at the Parc des Princes, Moffi scored Nice’s first and third goals, making him the team’s hero.

Mbappe looked to lose his cool and was spotted verbally battling with the Nigerian international, who also assisted teammate Gaeten Laborde’s goal shortly after halftime, after celebrating his second goal, which gave the visitors a 3-1 lead in Paris. The Nice center-back pairing of Dante and Jean-Clair Todibo kept Mbappe at a distance, but Moffi didn’t seem too phased by the Frenchman’s rage.

As the game went on and PSG’s superstar managed to score an impressive consolation goal, veteran referee Clement Turpin entered and made an effort to calm the situation. The night ultimately belonged to Nice and matchwinner Moffi, who now sit one point ahead of their opponents on Friday in the Ligue 1 standings.

Mbappe had just made his fourth appearance of the season up to that point, as PSG’s season opened with a 1-1 draw against Lorient at home. The 24-year-old’s unwillingness to start a contract extension at the conclusion of the previous season, which puts him on track to become a free agent next summer, incensed Parc des Princes management.

Although Real Madrid is still frequently mentioned as a potential destination, Mbappe says that his current priority remains PSG. However, the France captain has a challenging assignment since Luis Enrique is already under pressure to improve on performances from the first few months of the new season.

“I’m happy with the team’s performance, I really am,” the Spaniard, who replaced Christophe Galtier over the summer, told Prime Video following the loss to Nice. “When you give 100 per cent, what should I be complaining about? We’re entitled to progress, yes, we know that, but I’m not worried.”

“It was very, very, very difficult against us. Nice hadn’t lost. They play very good football. We tried to press them high up the pitch, which we did well, but they were strong. They took the lead with chances. We have to congratulate them, and we have to improve.”
