He famously tracked down a the rare DeLorean DMC-12 – famous for being the time machine in Back To The Future.

So Will.i.am had to pull out all the stops to top his efforts with his latest ride.

And the Black Eyed Peas star may have just done so in the form of a 1959 Chevrolet Corvette.

The red car with white panels was custom-made last year for the rapper at luxury automotive restyling centre West Coast Customs in Corona, California.

It featured on the show Inside West Coast Customs in October.

Founder Ryan Friedlinghaus said: ‘Will.i.am and I share a passion for creativity and he approached me with a new project that he envisioned, and he knew we were the best in the business. Working with Will and his creativity is exciting and inspiring.’

The car features a ’59 Corvette C1 body on a custom-made tube chassis with 2008 Corvette running gear and interior.

There is also an iPad built into the centre console.

Will.i.am famously managed to track down a rare DeLorean DMC-12 for his band’s 2010 music video for Gettin’ Over You.

The DeLorean leaped to iconic fame in 1985 when it became the method of transportation for Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) and Doc Brown’s (Christopher Lloyd) adventures through space and time.

It also appeared in the sequels II and III in 1989 and 1990 respectively.

Film producers chose the DeLorean DMC-12 model for the time machine because of its spaceship-like gullwing doors.

During the trilogy, the time machine was powered by various fuels, including petrol, nuclear power, recycled rubbish, and of course, one point 20 jigawatts of lightning.

The DeLorean motor company was relatively short-lived in the automobile industry, producing cars from 1975 to 1982.

The company had already been bust several years by the time film-makers chose the unusual-looking DMC-12 for the first BTTF film.

Meanwhile, Cheryl Cole is reportedly helping the star find him a multi-million-pounf London home.

His BBC talent show The Voice is due to air this month.

The Daily Mirror reported he said: ‘I’m really stuck right now. Where is my home? It must be up in the air with all the flying I do.’

A source added to the paper: ‘Cheryl has told him to leave it all up to her. She knows his taste, arty with fab architecture or a futuristic feel. They’ve ruled out a tacky bachelor pad.

‘Wherever they choose, studio space will be vital. He is always working and does not want to put his beat-making on hold.’

The pair apparently toured Clerkenwell, Blackfriars, Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Brixton and Dulwich.
