Dwayne Johnson is undeniably one of the most famous actors in Hollywood today.
Over his vast career, Johnson has transformed himself into an incredibly talented and well-respected actor. While Johnson is primarily known as an action star, he has stretched himself to also succeed in lighthearted movie musicals like Moana.
Now, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has secured his place as one of Disney’s most valuable assets. Johnson was the lead in the 2021 Disney movie Jungle Cruise, and he will also reprise his role of Maui in the live-action Moana movie.
With such an excellent reputation in the Disney community, many fans look to Johnson for his stamp of approval on other Disney films. This is why fans were intrigued to hear Dwayne Johnson’s thoughts on the new live-action movie, The Little Mermaid.
Did ‘The Little Mermaid’ Dazzle Dwayne?
The live-action reimagining of The Little Mermaid splashed into theatres this past Memorial Day weekend. The film is a huge project for Disney, and its reception has been highly anticipated. The Little Mermaid stars actress Halle Bailey as Princess Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.
The film has already been a big hit amongst fans, and it looks like Dwayne Johnson might be one of the biggest. On Sunday, June 4, Johnson shared a message on Twitter commending the cast and crew, especially Halle Bailey, for their work in the film.

I’m very impressed with Halle’s performance on the big screen – what presence and charisma, but perhaps more importantly- I’ve been super impressed with Halle’s grace and mana as she’s moved thru this global spotlight with maturity and soul. I didn’t realize it, til these little munchkins asked me to google her – but Halle’s just a kid herself. Impressive.
Halle, keep being the ‘hardest worker in the room’ and sky’s the limit. Look forward to working with you one day.
And the coolest part of the day – for me – as a proud girl dad – was watching our little girls of color, watch Halle and all the mermaids on the big screen and these little ones didn’t think twice about it because – that’s their norm.

Now that The Little Mermaid is a hit, fans are wondering if the live action Moana will be as well. So far, it looks like the team behind Moana has some truly spectacular ideas for the film. Fans will be thrilled to see Dwayne Johnson return to the screen as Maui when the live action remake is released.
